The Australian Department of Home Affairs has transitioned from the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement to the Genuine Student (GS) criterion, explicitly supporting students who intend to acquire valuable Australian skills while acknowledging legitimate post-study migration pathways.
English Proficiency Score Increases
Minimum IELTS scores for a Subclass 500 student visa have risen to 6.0 (or equivalent in PTE Academic) for higher education degrees, and 5.5 for packaged English language pathway courses.
